The Vibe Hotel is an iconic piece of the City of Melbourne’s history. The original two-storey building was built in 1873 in the Renaissance Revival architectural style and was called the Cobden building. The development was to create a high-rise hotel on the site of the former Fletcher Jones showroom. The project ensured that the building’s façade was preserved with the hotel floors to be constructed above.
